The Kansas City Chiefs have again made a big-time addition as the defending Super Bowl champs signed former Jaguars right tackle Jawaan Taylor to a four-year $80 million deal. Taylor has continuously improved throughout his young career and will now be tasked with protecting arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes.

Taylor was drafted by the Jags in 2019 out of the University of Florida and has been the team’s starting right tackle ever since. The Jaguars will now have to look for a replacement for a unique and impactful talent like Taylor to protect their franchise cornerstone, Trevor Lawrence.
Besides being a dominant force in both pass protection and run protection, Taylor is only 25 years old; the Chiefs now have Taylor when he is just peaking into the prime of his career. Kansas City will greatly benefit by adding such a young and exceptional talent to protect the face of their franchise.

Andy Reid has a great history of having massive offensive linemen on his team, so this is no surprise for those who have followed Reid throughout his legendary coaching career. Reid will surely be happy to have Taylor on his team now rather than have him on an up-and-coming AFC team like the Jaguars.
This move makes sense for both sides, and the Chiefs have once again invested in protecting their prized possession in Mahomes.
