Tua Tagovailoa Returns to Practice 13 Days After Concussion

Smiles and laughs were flowing at the Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens on Wednesday, October 12, as Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned to practice 13 days after suffering that scary-looking concussion against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

Tagovailoa was seen laughing and conversing with teammates and coaches.

After such a scary situation, this is such a feel-good moment not just for the Miami Dolphins but for all fans in the football world. To see Tagovailoa return to football so quickly after that scary moment is amazing. Although back to practice, Tagovailoa still has no timetable to return for game action as Mike McDaniel let the media know that they are just taking this one day at a time with Tua to ensure that he is fully healthy rather than throwing him quickly and putting him at risk for another concussion.

Starting at quarterback for the Dolphins on Sunday will be rookie seventh-round pick, Skylar Thompson. Thompson has one game under his belt after stepping in for Teddy Bridgewater after the first offensive snap for Miami in their week five loss to the Jets and will be QB1 in the Dolphins week six showdown against the Minnesota Vikings.

Bridgewater has been in concussion protocols since the game last Sunday and is not eligible to return to practice until Thursday. However, Bridgewater did pass all protocols Sunday and was not diagnosed with a concussion. Still, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to increase the concussion protocols following the situation with Tagovailoa. So, therefore, due to the new rules within the concussion protocols, Bridgewater has not been allowed to practice.

The most important part of this story is that Tagovailoa is back to doing what he loves.
