Tom Brady has done it again, the greatest to ever do it, leading a game-winning drive in Tampa Bay’s week nine 16-13 win against the Rams. With a game filled with lots of offensive struggles for both sides, Brady and the Bucs were able to save the best for last.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the defending champions Los Angeles Rams, came into the season with a load of expectations. However, those expectations have been not even close to reaching as the Rams have heavily struggled with a brand new offensive line, including losing perennial all-pro left tackle and current Thursday Night Football on Prime Video Analyst Andrew Whitworth to retirement.
Another aspect of the Rams offense that has slowed them down has been their running game, as it has been pretty much nonexistent throughout the season; a big part of why there is no running game goes back to the lackluster performance of the offensive line.
The story is very much the same for the Buccaneers as both teams came into the contest as the 31st and 32nd ranked running games in the leagues, making them the worst two running teams in the NFL.
Tampa has also suffered heavily due to losses on their offensive line through free agency, with right guard Alex Cappa heading to the Bengals, fellow guard Ali Marpet retiring, and then team-leader and starting center Ryan Jensen suffering an injury before the regular season.
An extra factor to throw in for Tampa can also be related to the head coaching position as the team went from Bruce Arians to Todd Bowles; historically, Bowles has had much more success as a defensive coordinator than as a head coach.
With that said, as bad as both offenses were in this one, we did get to witness another classic Tom Brady game-winning drive as the Bucs marched down the field, starting at their 40-yard line with a lack of timeouts and headed straight into the endzone in just six plays which ended with a 1-yard pass from Brady to rookie tight end Cade Otton for a touchdown to win the game.

The Bucs will look to build off of this win as they travel to Germany to take on the Seattle Seahawks in week ten for the NFL’s first-ever game in the country.
The Rams will look to bounce back at home in week ten against division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals.
