We Have to Talk About Zendaya’s Riveting Performance In Last Night’s Euphoria Episode

Spoiler Alert: Do NOT read if you have not watched the February 6 episode of Euphoria!

Zendaya took everyone’s breath away after her performance in Sunday night’s Euphoria episode.

Sunday’s episode was one of the most intense episodes of the season…and potentially of the entire series. The episode began with Rue, Zendaya’s character, fighting with her on-screen mom after she found out Rue had relapsed. The entire opening scene had Zendaya’s character showcasing so much emotion…yelling, screaming, and crying at those who love her the most.

Throughout the episode, Rue is on the run from family and friends as she is trying to avoid going back to rehab, attempting to access drugs in any way she can and destroying relationships along the way. Calling out friends, stealing from innocent bystanders, and even running from the cops.

Rue ends up with the lady who sold her the drugs in the first place. But now Rue has none of the lady’s drugs and or her money. Rue finds herself trapped in the apartment after being drugged and in a suspenseful scene she can escape. The episode ends with Rue’s mom sitting at the dining room table and hearing the door open calling out for Rue as the screen goes black.

Fans are gripped by the series as it has become one of HBO Max’s most-watched series on the platform. And every week fans take to social media to share theories, reactions, and predictions on the latest episode. This week was no different…fans and even co-stars were blown away with Zendaya’s performance (rightfully so)!

Zendaya recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where she explained the intensity of the episode. Saying, “It was so intense and scary to tackle, and obviously something that would be incredibly emotionally taxing, but also physically taxing.”

Zendaya also spoke on D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) calling out the show for glorifying drugs. According to Entertainment Weekly, Zendaya’s responded saying, “Our show is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing. If anything, the feeling behind Euphoria, or whatever we have always been trying to do with it, is to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience and their pain. And maybe feel like they’re not the only one going through or dealing with what they’re dealing with.”
