What You Need to Know About the 2022 MLB Postseason

With the 2022 MLB regular season coming to a close, the postseason bracket has been finalized.

In the National League, the Dodgers, Braves, Cardinals, Mets, Padres, and Phillies will play in the playoffs. While in the American League, the Astros, Yankees, Guardians, Blue Jays, Mariners, and Rays qualified for the postseason.

The top seed in the NL is the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Houston Astros are the top seed in the AL. The Dodgers are looking to win their second World Series title in the last three seasons as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2020 World Series. The Dodgers will start the postseason off on October 11 against either the New York Mets or division rivals, the San Diego Padres. In comparison, the Astros will also be playing on the 11th against the Toronto Blue Jays or the Seattle Mariners.

To talk about some matchups that are set in stone, the playoffs will officially begin on Friday, October 7, as the Rays take on the Guardians in Cleveland; the Blue Jays play host to the Mariners; the Phillies travel to St. Louis to face off against Albert Pujols and the Cardinals in the legend’s first game of his final postseason; and lastly, the Padres will be taking on the Mets in the “Big Apple.”

With lots of wild storylines heading into the postseason, including Aaron Judge’s historic season and three teams in each East division qualifying for a shot at a championship, this is almost certainly guaranteed to be one of the best postseasons yet.
