In a rare appearance since he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars back in March, Will Smith showed up at the Los Angeles Lakers team headquarters to give a motivational speech to the team amongst their rough start to the season. It also seems that Smith will begin a “promotional run” for his upcoming film, Emancipation, as the Lakers mentioned the movie in their tweet about Smith and the team.

At a time of such controversy for the Lakers, it seems very surprising for them to invite such a controversial figure like Smith for motivation, as some may see this as the Lake Show using this for publicity in the sense that they are showing forgiveness to Smith; however, it could simply really be inviting Smith over because of all of the adversity he has dealt with as of late, perhaps it could help this team unite and work better with one another.
Only time can tell if Smith’s words truly impacted the team based on their performance on the court. Now we shall wait and see if LeBron James and Smith may unite for a business venture, maybe even a movie in which the two partake.
Something else to watch here is whether or not Smith’s hometown Philadelphia 76ers will invite him over to visit their team.
