Chadwick Boseman wins Best Performance in a Movie
The second to last award of the night – because no one wanted to make the same mistake the Oscars made in case he did not win – went to the late Chadwick Boseman for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. And it was a great moment from his loyal fanbase that showed how much they loved the star.
Yara Shahidi presented the award and accepted on his behalf, while the audience gave him a standing ovation. Ma Rainey is not a film that would win in this category with many previous years going to stars of blockbuster films but with it being Boseman’s last on-screen performance, it felt right for him to be honored one last time.
