Bears Sign Powerful Back D’Onta Foreman To A One-Year $3 Million Deal

The Chicago Bears have made a great move to boost their backfield as the team signed former Panthers halfback D’Onta Foreman to a one-year $3 million contract. Foreman is coming off a career year after totaling over 900 yards on the ground, along with five touchdowns.

Foreman has bounced around the league since being drafted in 2017 by the Texans. After tearing his Achilles and bicep early in his career, Foreman took a year off from the league to focus on getting healthy. That plan worked out as the former Longhorn had a resurgence in 2020 and 2021, backing up the great Derrick Henry with the Tennessee Titans.

Foreman moved on to Carolina last season, and with the departure of Christian McCaffrey, Foreman earned the bulk of the carries and finished with 914 yards and five touchdowns on 203 carries.

Speaking of Henry, Foreman has a similar style of running as he is a downhill bulky back and regularly breaks tackles. Foreman will now have a chance to earn the RB1 spot with Chicago after the departure of David Montgomery.

As for the Bears, this is a tremendous move that can elevate their offense to another level. If the running game with Foreman can get going, it will open up the field and allow Justin Fields more opportunities, especially in the play-action pass game.

With Foreman’s style of play and the history of the Chicago Bears, this pairing seems ideal.
