So what does this freshly-released album really mean to such an epic artist? Celeb Secrets Country host Juliet Schroder chatted with Pope at the 2021 CMT Artists of the Year to get the scoop, where she said that she “poured her heart and soul” into this project.

“I am a little nervous, but I’m really trying to commit to just enjoying and being proud of the hard work cause this has been an album that’s been in the works for about a year and a half,” she said. “I wrote the whole thing during quarantine on Zoom, and I’m baring my soul with it. There are a lot of songs and a lot of like the subject matter that was kind of hard to talk about even in the sessions so I’m really proud of that.”

As far as what  “Y’alternative” is composed of, Pope said that the album is made of all things that make her who she is.

“I’m merging my two favorite things, pop-punk music and country music and I’m merging all the things that make me who I am and make me unique, so I’m super excited.”

Being that Thrive is Pope’s ninth studio album, fans may assume that Pope has truly lived it all career-wise. But as an ever-evolving artist, Pope explained that this album has brought her to leap without hesitations she may have had in past projects.

“You know, fear-based decisions usually keep you from taking things to the next level, whether that be your personal life, you’re afraid of saying ‘I love you’ to somebody or in your career because you’re afraid people aren’t gonna like it,” Pope said.” If you keep making decisions like that it will keep you from moving forward and I’ve done that before. I’ve seen that it doesn’t work for me, so I’m baring it all and I’m not worried about the, I guess, some people not understanding it. I’m just gonna be me and that’s been so fulfilling.”
