Dolphins Win Their Fifth Straight in 30-15 Win Against the Texans to Improve to 8-3

The Miami Dolphins winning streak continues as the AFC East division leaders picked up another win in week twelve as they defeated the Houston Texans 30-15.

The team was led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa who completed a pass to nine different weapons, along with a tremendous day by the defense in the sack department as the unit recorded five sacks on the day.

Miami came out firing with an early 10-0 lead to close the first quarter, which then turned into ten more points in the second quarter leading to a 30-0 halftime. With 30 points scored in the first half, the Dolphins became just the third team this season to put up at least 30 points in the first half of a game.

On offense, Miami was led by Tagovailoa, who had another tremendous outing as he finished with 299 yards and a fantastic touchdown pass to Durham Smythe in which Tagovailoa made some acrobatic moves to keep the play alive thanks in part to excellent protection from the offensive line.

Another standout stud on the offense for the Dolphins was Jaylen Waddle. Waddle finished the contest with five receptions for 85 yards, including an incredible snag with Texans safety M.J. Stewart draped all over him.

Joining the “penguin” in the receiving department was Tyreek Hill; the “cheetah” ended the win with six catches for 85 yards as well as a terrific showing by the wideouts who followed Mike McDaniel from San Francisco to the 305 in River Cracraft and Trent Sherfield; the duo combined for six catches for 88 yards.

Something of note: Miami finished the game without left tackle Terron Armstead who suffered a pectoral injury, so Armstead’s health will continue to be monitored as he is a team leader and the anchor of the offensive line.

On the defensive side of the ball for the fins, Miami was able to rack up five sacks, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. When your defense can cause multiple turnovers and keep the other team’s offense off the field, you are more than likely to win.

Some standout performances from the unit came from Andrew Van Ginkel, Jaelan Phillips, Christian Wilkins, Elandon Roberts, and Jerome Baker, to name a few.

Van Ginkel had four tackles and an interception; Phillips had seven tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit; Wilkins recorded two tackles for loss, four tackles, and a pass deflection; the linebacker duo of Roberts and Baker combined for thirteen tackles, two sacks, and two quarterback hits in the game for Miami.

Last but not least, the game plan by Mike McDaniel and his coaching staff was terrific as Miami’s coaching staff continues to impress and prove their greatness week in and out.

As for Houston, Kyle Allen finished his first start of the season, throwing for 215 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions; rookie sensation Dameon Pierce received just five carries in the game due to Houston being down an insurmountable lead throughout.

Houston will look to bounce back in week thirteen at home against their former quarterback Deshaun Watson as he makes his first start as a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Miami will look to keep things rolling in a potential Super Bowl preview in San Francisco against the 49ers for their week thirteen matchup.
