The set was Frank’s first live performance in six years and was several years in the making considering he was originally scheduled to headline in 2020 before the pandemic hit and again skipped out in 2022 before officially rescheduling for 2023.
And in support of the “Ivy” singer’s decision, Bieber shared a documentary-style snapshot from his performance on Monday (April 17) along with a text that expressed his feelings. “I was blown away by Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance,” wrote Bieber. “His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail.. I was deeply moved.”
The “Peaches” singer also acknowledged him as an inspiration and added, “It made me want to keep going and get better as an artist. He continues to set the bar high and gave me a night I will never forget! Thanks Frank.”

Along with Bad Bunny and Blackpink, Ocean was the headlining act for Coachella 2023, but his April 16 performance was a huge letdown for fans because he started an hour late, skipped through a lot of their favorite songs, largely played sitting down with his back to the audience, and lip-synced to numerous songs. Additionally, he performed after Coachella’s curfew had passed and concluded his show early after less than 90 minutes.
However, the delay of the set has been reported by sources that is was due to an ankle injury which disrupted the entire concept of Ocean’s performance. Nonetheless, the “Nights” singer is still scheduled to close out Coachella this upcoming Sunday (April 23).
