New Music Friday (Country Edition): Blake Shelton Launches New Chapter With New Single “Texas” – November 15, 2024

Happy New Music Friday!

Blake Shelton is back with his first release “Texas” under his new home – BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville and Wheelhouse Records – and it’s his first new offering since “No Body” achieved commercial success in 2023. He teased the announcement of this song earlier this week, paying homage to country legend George Strait who “knows best where all the exes go.”

Written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr and Lalo Guzman, “Texas” is full circle moment for the Oklahoma-native as it leaves Shelton longing after a woman who has likely moved to Texas, much like in his single “Austin” 23 years ago.

“The thing that struck me about ‘Texas’ immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I’m always looking to push myself. I think there’s something really special about this record and it feels important to me,” Shelton shared in a statement.

He continues, “This is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different, and it easily felt like it should be the first single. It’s connected with that I’ve done but moves forward at the same time, and it’s the perfect start to the next chapter of my career.”

This isn’t the only good news for the singer.

Shelton recently joined forces with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan for a brand new singing competition series, The Road. Up-and-coming singer + songwriters will get the opportunity to tour with a big artist (TBA) as they compete to win over local fanbases.
