Happy New Music Friday… or should we say happy “Postcards from Texas Day!”
After announcing her new label home and promising new music that’s true to who she is both as an artist and as a person, Miranda Lambert has finally released her first project today (September 13), 14-track Postcards from Texas, via Big Loud and Republic Records.
The singer co-produced the record with long-time collaborator Jon Randall and was recorded at Arlen Studios in Austin, Texas, channeling Lambert’s earlier works made from her home in the Lone Star state.
Lambert said of the album’s influence, “I was like, ‘I really want to make a record that has little pieces of every influence, musically, that I’ve ever had. So it’s like little snapshots of all the influences over the last two decades of my career. That’s why I called it Postcards from Texas. it felt like each song was a separate little vignette.”
She continues, “I haven’t made a record in Texas since I was 18. So, it felt really full circle. I was like, ‘This is my tenth studio record so I’m going back to the root of where it all started and where it all came from. I felt at home, number one. And it felt easy. I’m a co-producer with my great friend Jon Randall who is also a Texas boy. We just got some really great local musicians and brought a few people from Nashville.”
As the year begins to wind down, some country music artists are quickly shifting into the holidays. Amy Grant and Vince Gill dropped their collaborative record, When I Think of Christmas, featuring holiday favorites such as “Tennessee Christmas,” “O Holy Night,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.”
Off the heels of their Greatest Hits record, Little Big Town are also releasing their first-ever holiday offering, The Christmas Record, arriving Oct. 4.
Bandmate Jimi Westbrook says of the project, “Ever since we started as a band, we have dreamed of making a Christmas record. We all love the traditions of the season and treasure the memories with our families. For our 25th year together, we finally made that record. We wrote several original songs for the project and also recorded some of our favorites we’ve been singing together for years. We’re so proud of how it came together and hope the fans love it as much as we do.”
