Packers Stay in NFC Playoff Race With 24-12 Win Over the Rams on Monday Night Football

Week fifteen’s Monday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams was a must-win contest for both teams to stay in playoff contention; with that said, the Packers came out on top with a 24-12 win and a two-touchdown game for A.J. Dillon.

To start with Dillon and the Packers offense, the big running back finished the win with 36 rushing yards and 35 receiving yards, along with his two touchdowns; unfortunately for Dillon, this multi-touchdown game for him did not end pretty as he was unable to finish the game due to a concussion.

Joining Dillon in the touchdown club was his fellow running mate, Aaron Jones; Jones finished the contest with 90 rushing yards, 36 receiving yards, and a 7-yard touchdown reception from Aaron Rodgers. Speaking of Rodgers, the legendary signal-caller finished the game with 229 yards, along with the touchdown pass to Jones and an interception.

This was a dominant performance by Green Bay, as they completely outmatched the Rams.

As for the Packers defense, Super Bowl Champion cornerback Rasul Douglas led the way in the tackling department for the Pack with eight; while also adding a pass deflection and an interception.

Also contributing nicely was the linebacking duo of rookie Quay Walker and veteran Preston Smith; the duo combined for three sacks, five quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, and eight tackles.

As for the Rams, their offense could not get anything to work as Baker Mayfield was held to just 111 yards on twelve completions, with just five of those completions going to receivers.

A bright spot for the Rams towards the back end of a very forgettable season has been the recent emergence and consistency of Cam Akers. The former Florida State Seminole halfback ended the primetime loss with 65 rushing yards and 35 receiving yards leading the Rams in each category.

As of now, the Packers playoff hopes are alive, but to still have a chance, they must go to Miami and defeat a great Dolphins team on Christmas Day.

As for the Rams, the team is officially out of playoff contention and will now get ready for a Christmas Day home matchup against the Broncos.
