‘Scott Pilgrim’ Original Cast Reunites For New Netflix Anime Series

Ready to watch your favorite graphic novel come back to life again?

An anime series based on the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels is coming to Netflix, reuniting the original Scott Pilgrim vs. The World cast for the voice cast!

The returning voice cast is as follows: Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), Satya Bhabha (Matthew Patel), Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells), Chris Evans (Lucas Lee), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim), Brie Larson (Envy Adams), Alison Pill (Kim Pine), Aubrey Plaza (Julie Powers), Brandon Routh (Todd Ingram), Jason Schwartzman (Gideon Graves), Johnny Simmons (Young Neil), Mark Webber (Stephen Stills), Mae Whitman (Roxie), and Ellen Wong (Knives Chau). Additional cast members will be announced at a later date.

The graphic novels followed the kooky Scott, an idler and bassist living in Toronto. He falls head-over-heals for a girl named Ramona Flowers, but is given the task to defeat her seven evil exes in order to be with her.

Six volumes of the graphic novel have been published, with the latest one released in 2010. The film adaptation was made in 2010 after the last novel was published and has gained a major cult following since its release.

Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is set to co-write, executive produce and serve as show-runner for the new anime series along with BenDavid Grabinski. Edgar Wright, director of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, is also listed as one of the executive producers.

“We can’t wait for fans and newcomers alike to see what we and our partners at Science SARU have been cooking up,” O’Malley and Grabinski said in a statement. “It’s going to be a wild ride.”

Multiple OG fans had questions as to whether or not Anamanaguchi would be returning to do the soundtrack for the series. In response, Wright replied “You will be very happy,” via Twitter. On social media Anamanaguchi confirmed they not only did the soundtrack, but that they’ve been working on original music for the past year. “Not much more we can say about it for now… but HOW ABOUT THAT CAST??????????? I think this might be good everybody”

In a press release, Wright called the original film “one of the proudest and most enjoyable achievements of [his] career.” He added. “Since the film’s release in 2010 we’ve done Q&A’s, remembrances and charity read throughs, but there was never the occasion to reunite the whole gang on an actual project. Until now… Original creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, along with writer BenDavid Grabinski have conjured up an anime series of ‘Scott Pilgrim’ that doesn’t just expand the universe, but also…well, just watch it. I’m more than happy to announce that I have helped coax the entire original cast back to voice their characters on this epic new adventure. You are in for a treat.”
