Texans Add Running Back Devin Singletary & Tight End Dalton Schultz

The Houston Texans have made two low-risk/high-reward additions to their offense by adding long-time Bills RB1 Devin Singletary & long-time Cowboys TE1 Dalton Schultz. Singletary signed a one-year deal worth around $3 million, while Schultz gets $9 million for one year.

It has been a rough couple of seasons for the Houston Texans, as the team has their third head coach in three years. The squad hired former Niners defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans to help turn things around after spending several successful seasons as a linebacker for the Texans.

The Texans have heavily improved their offense so far this offseason, by adding a starting caliber tailback in Singletary to be paired up with 2022 rookie phenom Dameon Pierce in the backfield. The team also improved by adding Schultz, who is arguably one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league. Something of note, Houston also smartly kept around All-Pro left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Singletary is coming off a four-year run with the Bills in which he ran for 3,151 yards and 16 touchdowns on 672 opportunities. The Bills drafted Singletary in 2019 after a record-breaking career with the FAU Owls. Singletary will now be expected to produce when called for while also being expected to be a veteran leader in a young locker room to help Pierce stay focused and continue his dominance in his young career.

As for Schultz, the former fourth-round pick earned the starting job at the tight end position for Dallas in his third year and never looked back as he ended up being one of Dak Prescott’s favorite targets. Schultz finished his Cowboys career with 211 catches for 2,122 yards and seventeen touchdowns. Schultz, like Singletary, will be expected to be both an on-field producer and a veteran leader, especially in a tight end room that contains young promising tight end Brevin Jordan.

These are two excellent signings by Nick Caserio, and day by day, the future looks brighter for H-Town’s beloved Texans.
