Buckle up Bachelor Nation because we have a new queen among us, and she’s ready to find love in a hopeless place.
The name “Michelle Young” might ring a bell because she created quite the name for herself within the ABC franchise right off the bat. During season 25 of The Bachelor, Young became a finalist and fell in love with Matt James. However, that love story quickly came to an end when he gave Rachael Kirkconnell the final rose.
After the world fell in love with the authentic 28-year-old schoolteacher from Minnesota – the franchise presented her with the opportunity of a lifetime to be the next leading lady. While many Bachelors and Bachelorettes quit their jobs to focus on finding love on the hit reality series, Young decided to keep her day job as a fifth-grade teacher at Echo Park Elementary and film her season during summer break.
With a sick teacher intuition, Young kicked off her 10-week journey to find love on Tuesday, October 19. The premiere introduced Michelle Young to the new members of Bachelor Nation. While several fans were on the edge of their seat with a glass of wine in hand, many others decided to switch to another channel. According to Deadline, the two-hour special marked a premiere low for the series.
While their viewership might be hitting rock bottom, the show’s production is reaching an all-time high. The season was filmed at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California, and giving the previews – young has an eye-catching wardrobe this season.

Young made her grand entrance in a cherry-red convertible and welcomed her men in a breathtaking gold gown. Before the men made their first impression, she met up with former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe. ABC has called in the two experienced ladies to help guide Young on her journey, as Chris Harrison has recently stepped away from the franchise after defending Rachael Kirkconnell’s racially insensitive photos.
