Lexi Janicek ‘Really Loves’ Playing Lisa Loud in the Brand New Nickelodeon Series “The Really Loud House” (Exclusive)

We are beyond excited to see rising actress Lexi Janicek back on our screens in the new Nickelodeon series The Really Loud House!

All month, we have been able to catch episodes week-by-week as they roll out on Thursdays at 7/6 CT on Nickelodeon, and each episode is truly a new adventure.

The Really Loud House is a live action version of The Loud House, the animated series we ALL know and love, where viewers can follow along with 12-year-old Lincoln Loud as he continues to navigate life with 10 sisters. One of these sisters is the sarcastic and scatterbrained Lisa Loud, played by Janicek.

Janicek says that “it’s [been] a lot of fun getting to know Lisa more and more over time,” and we are so excited to see how she grows throughout the rest of The Really Loud House!

Aside from The Really Loud House, Janicek has roles in two upcoming films: The People We Hate at the Wedding and Echo 3. The roles are incredibly different from one another, as Janicek’s character in The People We Hate at the Wedding plays along with her youthful spirit and comedy-based genre she is comfortable with, while Janicek’s character in Echo 3 challenges her to tap into her more vulnerable and dramatic side.

Celeb Secrets: Can you tell us a little bit about the show?

Lexi Janicek: “The Really Loud House is based on Nickelodeon’s popular animated series, The Loud House. The show revolves around Lincoln Loud, his very big 13-person family, his best friend Clyde and all of the mischief and funny situations they all find themselves in.”

CS: Can you tell us more about your character Lisa, and what it was like playing this role?

LJ: “I really love playing Lisa Loud. We’re very different, especially in appearance. Lisa has dark brown hair that she cut herself, she wears glasses and speaks with a lateral lisp. Thank goodness for good wigs, cute glasses and the ability to imitate her speech! As different as we are in appearance, I’ve discovered over time that I actually have some very Lisa-like characteristics in my personality! We’re both rule followers, we both take school seriously and we both try to look at the facts before becoming too emotional. It’s a lot of fun getting to know Lisa more and more over time.”

CS: Do you have siblings in real life? How does this compare to having 10 siblings in The Really Loud House?

LJ: “Yes, I have three big brothers in real life. I’m the baby of my family and the only girl. I love my brothers, but I’ve always wanted a sister! The Really Loud House has given me NINE sisters! It’s definitely more chaotic with 10 siblings compared to 3, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love a big family. It’s a ton of fun. I had the best time with my real family and my Loud family!”

CS: Since the Loud family is so big, there are numerous other members of the cast who are in your same age range. What is it like working with people around the same age as you?

LJ: “It’s amazing working with so many kids. Often times, there will only be one or a few child actors in a production, but this is an almost all-kid cast! We actually have three different school classrooms set up just off-set because so many of us have to school during the week. We have the best time on and off-set. We have a ping pong table in cast holding which is always in use, plus a bunch of other games, footballs, puzzles and crafts. There’s always someone to hang out with when we have down time!”

CS: Out of the 10 actors/actresses that play your siblings, who are you closest with off-set and why?

LJ: “I’m probably the closest with Ella and Mia Allan. I lived down the street from them all summer, so it was super easy to get together to play soccer, ride bikes and swim whenever we weren’t working. They’re so much fun. They’re always up for going out and doing something, and they love sleepovers! We have at least one sleepover a week… usually more.”

CS: What is your favorite memory from filming The Really Loud House, overall?

LJ: “We have so many fun memories from filming The Really Loud House, but my favorite is probably my 11th birthday. When I first arrived on set that day, everyone was running over for hugs and birthday wishes. Such a great way to start my day! When I finally got to my trailer it was totally decorated with streamers and balloons and gifts, which was so amazing and thoughtful. Later in the day, when I was least expecting it, the cast and crew gathered on the stage and surprised me with cupcakes and a round of ‘Happy Birthday.’ I was so happy and touched in that moment, with everyone singing and smiling at me, that I literally started crying! The production really made me feel so special and celebrated. Great, great memory!”

CS: I know you are reprising your role as Lisa, since you played her in A Loud House Christmas, as well. How has the process been different filming The Really Loud House in comparison to A Loud House Christmas?

LJ: “I think the biggest difference between filming the movie and show is the location and the timeline. We filmed the movie in Atlanta over the course of about 7 or 8 weeks, and we knew the full storyline before we started filming. For the series, we’re filming in Albuquerque. We were originally planning on 10 episodes, but a couple months in we got extended to 20! We basically film one episode per week, but we don’t know the storylines for each of the episodes until we get closer to that block of filming. It’s always really exciting when a new script arrives!”

CS: How has Lisa changed as a character between A Loud House Christmas and The Really Loud House?

LJ: “Lisa is still the-matter-of-fact, scientific genius of the family. I think the biggest difference between the Christmas movie and the series is that Lisa’s wardrobe has expanded a little bit. In the animated show, Lisa almost always wears the same green turtleneck sweater and maroon pants. I wore that same signature outfit for the movie, but in the series we definitely have a lot more variety! Some of Lisa’s outfits are really cute! Later in the series, you may get to see a slightly more emotional side of Lisa, but I don’t want to give too much away!”

CS: Do you have any behind-the-scenes secrets that you can share from filming The Really Loud House?

LJ: “There are so many cool things that go into filming the series. One of the coolest things is that we have had a lot of live animals on set. We usually have to get special training from the animal wranglers before interacting with them, but most of the animals you’ll see in the series were actually with us on set for filming!  Occasionally, Lisa has a photo double which is pretty cool. The double is typically used in scenes that don’t show my face, so you can’t tell in the actual episodes!”

CS: Do you have any secrets about your castmates from The Really Loud House that fans might not expect?

LJ: “One thing that I think people won’t expect is that we all get along really well. We have a big cast with a lot of kids and a lot of girls, which could go either way, but we have a really great group and we actually get together for fun on the weekends. Most of the kids enjoy rock climbing, so that’s been a fun activity for us to do together. We’ve also had some lively and LOUD “family” game nights! We definitely have some good-natured teasing and cheating that takes place during the games, but I won’t name names… LOL!  It’s always a great time.”

CS: Aside from The Really Loud House, you are starring in The People We Hate at the Wedding which premieres November 18th on Amazon Prime. Can you tell us a little bit about the movie and the character you play?

LJ: “The People We Hate at the Wedding is basically a comedy about how a pair of siblings and their mom cause problems and chaos at a family wedding. I play the younger version of Kristen Bell’s character, Alice. I got to have a bit of a tantrum in my role which was really fun! The production also had me fitted with blue colored contacts since Kristen has blue eyes and I have green eyes. It was really neat to get to see myself with blue eyes for the first time!”

CS: How was this experience different from filming The Really Loud House?

LJ: “I definitely had a smaller role in the movie compared to being a series regular on The Really Loud House, so that is the biggest difference. Overall, the feeling on set was similar because the movie and the show are both comedies. The environment was light and fun for both productions. I also got to work with a couple of other kids on the movie which is fun and similar to the show!”

CS: You also have a recurring role as Young Amber in Echo 3, which premieres on Apple TV+ starting on November 23rd. Can you tell us a little bit about the series and your role, in particular?

LJ: “Echo 3 is a military thriller about two Special Operations soldiers. I play the younger version of one of the main characters, Amber.  When she was a child, she witnessed something really horrible that came back to play a scary role in her adult life. It was definitely the most dramatic and emotional role I’ve played.”

CS: Similarly, how was this experience different from filming The Really Loud House?

LJ: “Echo 3 is totally different from The Really Loud House. It’s definitely not a comedy or a kids’ show. Echo 3 is much more serious. The main difference in filming for me was that I had to dig deep to get into a very vulnerable and emotional state of mind. As soon as we cut, my mom was right there for lots of hugs and to make sure I was able to put it behind me and go back to my normal, happy mindset. When I film The Really Loud House, the scenes are MUCH lighter from start to finish, so it’s easier to transition from Lexi to Lisa and back again.”

CS: Do you have any goals for yourself in 2023 career-wise?

LJ: “I would love for The Really Loud House to get another movie or a second season. It would be awesome to get to come back for more episodes in 2023. We’ll see!”
