Country artist Luke Combs was honored tonight (October 13) at the 2021 CMT Artist of the Year special and it was a moment we would love to live “All Over Again”!
Kicking off the night, Combs delivered a powerhouse performance of “Forever After All.” The song has been known to serve as a make-your-heart-melt ballad and tonight’s performance did not disappoint.
Combs then took the stage to accept his well-deserved CMT Artists of the Year honor. While on stage, Combs took the time to honor those familiar famous faces in the audience who have inspired him, including “Artist of a Lifetime” honoree Randy Travis.
“Randy, I watched you play in this building a few years ago with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and was absolutely blown away,” says Combs. “And to be in the same room with you again in the same place and to just have a small fraction of an impact on country music like you’ve had man, it’s incredible.”
But the praise for his fellow artists didn’t stop there! Combs then shouted out fellow nominee Chris Stapleton.
“Chris, man, everybody wants to be you, dude,” Combs said with a laugh. “You’re so awesome, man, like everybody in here is so cool, man.”
Humbly accepting his honor, Combs finished his speech in a touching way adding, “I just, I honestly don’t feel like I deserve this. This is for the fans, this is for country music, this is for everybody. I love you guys. Thank you for letting me do what I do.”
Fans alike know that tonight has served as a “thank you” to trailblazing artists like Combs. Accepting his honor in such a gracious fashion, the “Forever After All” singer continues to prove time and time again that he truly has a heart of gold.
