Company
Stephen Sondheim’s Company has aged so well by changing with the times. While the 1970 Broadway cast was filled with straight, white couples, the most recent West End and upcoming Broadway revivals have added diversity in both race and sexuality.
Now gender-flipped, Bobbi (Rosalie Craig in the West End and Katrina Lenk on Broadway) is turning 35 and spends time with each of her pair of friends. This includes Jamie (Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey in the West End and Matt Doyle on Broadway) and Paul (Alex Gaumond in the West End and Etai Benson on Broadway) on their wedding day where Jamie is getting cold feet. Formerly Amy, Jamie’s number “Getting Married Today” is a standout in the show and with Bailey already winning the Olivier Award, it seems like Doyle is destined for a Tony next year.
