Countdown to 2021 MTV VMAs: Best Moments of All Time

2017: Logic, Alessia Cara & Khalid Fight for Mental Health with “1-800-273-8255”

While the VMAs are typically a lighthearted celebration, Logic had potentially the most emotionally charged performance in the show’s history alongside Alessia Cara and Khalid while performing “1-800-273-8255” at the 2017 awards. The trio were joined onstage by survivors of suicidal ideation and with the song’s name being the National Hotline for Suicide Prevention, there was a reported 50 percent spike in calls afterwards.

Logic has consistently been a champion for mental health and equality and ended his performance by saying, “I don’t give a damn if you’re black, white or any color in between. I don’t care if you’re Christian, Muslim, you’re gay, you’re straight. I am here to fight for your equality because I believe we are all born equal, but we are not treated equally and that is why we must fight.”
