Premiered: December 20, 1996
Wes Craven had already introduced to one of the best horror villains of all-time with Freddy Kreuger in A Nightmare on Elm Street, he revolutionized the horror game in 1996 with Scream and its villain, Ghostface.
High school student Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is taunted by a mysterious killer a year after her mother was murdered. Deputy Sheriff Dewey Riley (David Arquette) tries to protect Sidney and her friends – including his sister Tatum (Rose McGowan) – while reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) is covering the story of her life.
With an opening that killed the film’s biggest star, Drew Barrymore, before the title even appeared, this movie quickly became iconic and spawned three sequels with the fourth coming out in 2022 as well as a TV show that ran for three seasons.
