The English Patient

Based in Italy during World War II, The English Patient starts with a man (Ralph Fiennes) critically burned and dying being cared for by a nurse (Juliette Binoche) whom he tells his story of a love affair before the war, which reveals his true identity.
A critical and commercial success, the film went on to win nine of its 12 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Binoche. And in 2002, the American Film Institute ranked it number 56 on its list of 100 Years…100 Passions.
