A wild modern retelling of the William Shakespeare classic, Romeo + Juliet introduced us – and made us crush on – to Leonardo DiCaprio a year before he became Jack Dawson in Titanic.
Set in Verona Beach in America rather than Verona in Italy, the Montagues and Capulets are warring mafia families. Romeo Montague (DiCaprio) and Juliet Capulet (Claire Danes) meet at a party and fall in love, unaware of the families they each come from. When their families try to keep them apart, the two vow to do anything for love.
This is definitely not the version you want to watch if you’re trying to cheat by watching the film instead of reading the play. However, if you know the story and want a different and highly romantic version, this is definitely the one for you.
